Caring and Support Ministries
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group
The Alzheimers' Caregivers Support group meets on the second Monday of each month to share experiences in caring for a loved one or friend who is suffering some sort of Dementia. We also learn about the disease which affects a rapidly growing number of older people. Education and support are important tools when dealing with Alzheimer's Disease. We welcome anyone who is interested in getting in touch with others who are dealing with the problem.
Over 500 prayer shawls have been created to comfort those experiencing grief, illness, and other overwhelming issues in their lives, or the lives of loved ones. Prayer Shawl Ministry has also donated scarves of comfort to a shelter for abused women and their families. This ministry is available to members of our congregation and others.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 10 am in the Fireside Room, but if you are interested in creating them at home, you are welcome to contribute. All needle work enthusiasts are invited to join us.
Meals on Wheels
Do you enjoy greeting visitors and sharing food and conversation with friends during Fellowship time after Sunday worship at Beulah? We do! If you do too, we'd love to have you host a Sunday once or once in awhile.
Everyone can get involved by donating baking mixes and supplies on third Sundays. We schedule fun baking days as needed, gather everyone together and bake a bunch of batches to freeze for future Sunday hospitality times and other events. Call us or check the Newsletter or Bulletins to find out when the next baking day will be. Please come: friendship guaranteed!
After 30 years the Meals on Wheels program at Beulah Church came to an end on March 29, 2019. This decision was not an easy decision for Beulah as we have sponsored this program with volunteers from our church and St. John Fisher, as well as the community since the 1070's. However, a number of factors entered into our decision, including the retirement of several key volunteers, and a gradual reduction in the number of clients served by the program .
Fortunately, there are other options available to our clients and the community as alternatives:
1. Meals for Friends
Serves Churchill, Wilkins and Forest Hills. Meals for Friends is in great need of volunteers to deliver meals at this time. If you are in need of meals or would like to be a part of this important ministry please consider contacting the program. Call Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 412-824-2400.
2. Allegheny County Area on Aging Senior line
412-350-5460 or 412-350-4234 after business hours and on weekends
